DISCLAIMER:
Needless to say, the Harry Potter series and its characters are not my creation. Prejudice in
Harry Potter's World is an academic study and a social commentary which in no way
infringes upon J.K. Rowling's copyright. Yes, I wrote this book partly because of my ongoing
obsession with Rowling's work. But most of all, I wrote it because I felt these issues have been
mostly ignored or glossed over by the mostly-mainstream Harry Potter audience and critics.
Of all the companions, study-guides, commentaries, etc., that have been written about the
Harry Potter books, none have dealt with its social themes in depth. Therefore, this study is
the first of its kind. Those of us who are passionate about these Harry Potter issues have so
far been neglected; and so, it is my hope that my work will fill this void without stepping on too
many toes.
Thank you.
